Marketing Brokers

Marketing brokers do stand-alone job matching. Their job is to introduce the contractor to prospective end users. Once a match is made, the marketing broker backs out of the loop. The contractor is then free to negotiate a direct contract with the end user, or alternatively employ the services of a separate, third party employer of record. Marketing brokers usually charge the contractor a percentage of the bill rate contingent on the contractor being paid by the end user.

Certain full service temp agencies may offer stand-alone job matching as one of several unbundled services provided on an a la carte basis.

Marketing brokers neither manage the contract, nor do they handle the contractor's money. This separation allows the contractor to participate fully in contract negotiations and in setting the bill rate.

Marketing brokers and full-service agencies that offer stand-alone job matching are sorely needed to support self-reliant independent contractors, and to complement stand-alone employer of record services like P.A.C.E. and other umbrella services and pass-through agencies.
